As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, we want to take a moment—not just to join the festivities, but to express our deepest gratitude to the veterans who made every one of those years possible.
This is a milestone we’ve been reflecting on for a long time. America’s Semiquincentennial feels like much more than just a historic date on a calendar. It’s a moment to pause, look back, and truly appreciate the weight of what it took to get here—the immense sacrifices, the quiet courage, and the countless individuals who left their homes to defend the country they loved.

250 Years of Dedication
When you look back, 250 years of American history is extraordinary. Through world wars, technological revolutions, and moments of both deep crisis and triumph, one thing has remained constant: brave Americans willing to put on a uniform and say, "I’ll go. I’ll protect this." That kind of selflessness deserves far more than a simple footnote in a history book.
This summer, as towns and cities across the nation light up with parades and fireworks, we hope everyone takes a moment to remember the individuals who made the celebration possible. We certainly will.
Why the VFW Matters
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States has been showing up for veterans since 1899—long before awareness campaigns or hashtags existed. With more than 1.3 million members, the VFW is deeply embedded in communities across the nation.
Through the VFW National Veterans Service Program, they provide free, accredited claims assistance to military families, ensuring veterans actually receive the healthcare and benefits they earned and were promised. They advocate on Capitol Hill, educate families on VA benefits, and ensure no combat service member returns home to silence.
That kind of sustained, unglamorous, roll-up-your-sleeves work is exactly what we respect most. As America celebrates 250 years of freedom, the VFW is leading the charge to take care of the people who secured it.
